Polyurethane Foam - is an oil-based product. The price is set by the board foot. When the cost of oil per barrel increases so does the board foot cost. The price of foam never goes down.
Every foam type has four numbers. The first two are the density factor. This refers to the weight of 4 x 12 x 12 pieces of foam. The higher the number, the heavier the foam is. It is of higher quality because it means the manufacturer is using more of the polyurethane chemicals. The second set of numbers is the compression factor, the number of pounds of pressure to compress the 4 x 12 x 12 foam down one inch.
